Summer Trilogy- Summer Essentials

Welcome to the last part in my summer trilogy. If you haven't checked out the last two instalments in the trilogy then here are the link and link. Today I have put together a list of 10 summer essentials. No matter what you are doing this will come in handy.

1. Suncream.

Everybody says how important it is to use it. If you've ever had a sunburn your will know how unpleasant it is. I have a few suncream I like. The first one is great to take with you during the day to top up your suncream, Nivea Protect & Spray. This come in SPF 20 or 30. Then a great suncream to use if you are already burnt or are starting to burn is the La Roche Posay Suncream. Last, but not least my favourite suncream to use at the beginning of the day is the Korres sun care range. They feel amazing on the skin as they use yogurt which makes it very smooth and lovely on your skin. Korres also has an amazing after sun range.

2. Thermal Water

I have just discover this year the water aerosols and they have come in so handy. Whenever you feel hot or sweaty then just spritz some thermal water all over and you feel super refreshed and cooled down. It's also great when you have a sunburn, as it has a cooling effect. I love them to bits, they have been very useful during the summer months . My favourite is the Eau Thermal Avene Thermal water spray, but there are plenty of other brands that do similar products.

3. Sunglasses

I love sunglasses. They come so handy during the summer, not only do they protect your eyes from the sun, but they also can be a fashion statement.  You don't have to stick to only one pair of sunglasses. One great thing is that you can find sunglasses to suit your budget and needs. I know that some of you wear spectacles. You could use contact lenses with the sunglasses, but you could have prescription sunglasses.

4. Summer Nail Polish

For me summer screams bright and pastel colours. I have a blog post on my top summer colours and here is a link to it. If you want to buy some summer colours lots of brands create sets with mini summer nail polish sets. Brands like Essie and Opi always have them. I love how a bright nail polish, gets you in a summer mood.

5. Summer Lip Colours.

When I think of summer lip colours I think of bright fun colours. My favourite is coral, pink and orange, but it all depends on your skin tone. If you what some help finding your perfect lip colour I recommend going to a make-up counter and getting some advice.

6. Water/ Refreshing Drinks.

It is very important during the summer to stay hydrated. Water is the healthiest thing to drink, but lemonade and infused water is also good. You could also make ice tea or coffee. I will post a summer drinks blog in the next couple of weeks.

7. Bikini

Even if you are not going to go to the pool or on the beach this summer this does not stop you from sunbathing. So, pick out a cute bikini and get sunbathing. I love the Victoria Secret and Pink swim wear, go and check it out.

8. Ice Cream

Ice cream is a summer staple for me. So, I had to include this in my summer essentials. I recommend  frozen yogurt as well as ice cream; anything cold is good.

9. Tote Bag

Whether you are going to the beach or not a tote bag is vital. It can be used as a beach/pool bag or an everyday bag. A must have in everybody's wardrobe.

10. Waterproof Make up

Even if you are no where near the beach/pool you will most likely get a bit sweaty, so waterproof make up is crucial, anywhere from mascara to foundation.

Okay guys so those are all of my summer essentials !

I will see you all next week

Summer Trilogy- Picnic Recipes.

Welcome everybody to the brand new summer trilogy.  I have three posts in this trilogy and to kick starting it I am sharing with you some yummy picnic recipes.  The second post from this Trilogy will be coming your way Monday 4th August and then the final part will be Wednesday 6th August.

Enjoy.  Now Back to the Picnic Recipes.

One thing I love doing in the summer is spending time outside. A great way of doing this is by having BBQ, Pool Parties and Picnics. I know that not all of you can easily get to an outdoor pool, so I think a great way of spending time outside is by having picnics.

Me and two of my best friends put together several recipes for you guys for a perfect picnic. Tried and tested by our taste buds.

Savory

Spicy Couscous

Even thought this called spicy couscous it is not very hot. You just get a little kick of spice.

Ingredients

1 cup of couscous
1 and 1/2 cups of vegetable stock
250g of quartered dried apricots
1tbsp nutmeg
1tbsp cayenne pepper
1tbsp paprika
1tbsp crushed chili
2 pinches of salt
3/4 tbsp. rosemary
50g of almond flakes
1tbsp cumin
50g raisins

Method

Firstly place the couscous in a heatproof bowl and pour your hot veggie stock over the couscous. Cover the bowl with cling film and leave it for about half and hour.

After thirty minutes pop all the rest of the ingredients in to the bowl and mix thoroughly.

And Voila a super easy recipe to make. Great to have on it's own or as a side for something.

Next up

Guacamole

Another very easy and tasty recipe.

Ingredients

2 very ripe avocados
1/2 of red or white onion
1/2 of a juiced lime
Pinch of salt
1tbsp cayenne pepper
1tbsp crunched chilly
1tbsp olive oil

Method

Firstly peel your avocados and take out the stone. Then scoop out the entire avocado. Once you have done that take a fork and start pressing the avocado until it becomes smooth.

Chop the onion in fine pieces and then add it to the avocado along with your lime juice, salt, Cayenne Pepper and chilly. Once they are all combined you can add your olive oil and mix it again and then you are done.

Serve well with tortilla chips.

Rocket or Arucola Salad

Ingredients

100g rocket salad
2tbsp olive oil
1tbsp white wine vinegar
Pinch of alt

Method

Place the washed rocket in a bowl and then add the other ingredients.

Super easy salad. Great as a side for some sort of meat or to eat by itself.

Salmon and Rocket Bagels

Butter
Salmon
Rocket
Bagels

I didn't put any units or amount because you can choose how much or little you want.

This is pretty self-explanatory

You toast your bagels then spread the butter on while it is still warm and then add the salmon and rocket and then you are done.

Second to last in the savory bit we have.

Tomatoes and Mozzarella Skewer

200g Tomatoes
1 Big Ball Of Mozzarella
Few leaves of Basil

Take your mozzarella and chop it up into smaller cubes.

Then pop a tomatoe, a piece of mozzarella and basil leave on the skewer and keep going.

Last but not Least

Roasted vegetables with Chicken

This can be really easy as you can go to your supermarket and find frozen roasted vegetables and pre- cooked chicken and all you have to do is heat it up. If you can find them or want to do it your self then you can roast some veg’s of your choice and mix in some chicken that has been marinated.

This recipe is great as it can be personalized.

Now for the Sweets.

I only have two recipes for you guys, but after all the food above I think some of you are going to be pretty full anyway.

Frozen Grapes

All you need for this recipe is grapes of your choice color and some skewers.

And then you just pop your grapes on the skewer and then pop it in the freezer for a couple of hours and then you are done.

This grapes taste really good.

Chocolate covered Strawberries

100g Milk Chocolate
100g Dark Chocolate
100g Strawberries

Melt your dark and milk chocolate together. Then dip your strawberries in and let them set. You can place them in the fridge to speed things up.

Take some lemonade with you and you have a perfect summer picnic.  I will post recipes to some of my favorite summer drinks coming up in the next couple of weeks, so keep an eye out for that.

Have an amazing picnic and week!

Book Vs Film- The Fault In Our Stars

This week I am going to be comparing TFIOS book VS the film.
So, let's get stared.

Firstly if you don't know anything about TFIOS.

Hazel, a seventeen-year-old girl who suffers with thyroid Cancer is the narrator. She goes to this Cancer Support Group where she meets Augustus Waters. They fall in love, which completely changes Hazel's life. I am not going to say any more about the actual plot, as I don't want to give any spoilers. But, here us a quick review of the book. One thing I loved it that it was written in first person that I find to be much more personal. I loved the story line and I love that it's not your usual cheesy love story.

Here is the actual blurb of the book.

Despite the tumor-shrinking medical miracle that has bought her a few years, Hazel has never been anything but terminal, her final chapter inscribed upon diagnosis. But when a gorgeous plot twist named Augustus Waters suddenly appears at Cancer Kid Support Group, Hazel's story is about to be completely rewritten.

Now moving on to the comparison of the book to the film.

I have a few things that I want to mention in this comparison. Personally I would recommend reading the book before seeing the film as I think the film will make more sense if you read the book first. Next I would like to mention that the film does not cover everything, otherwise it would be very long. Also some of the events in the film happen at different times to the book. Another thing to keep in mind it the fact that film does not stick to book exactly, but the story is the same.

I loved the movie. The actors played amazingly well. IT WAS AMAZING. That sums up how I feel about it. But, I would advise you to bring tissues to the film, as you will probably need them.  You go through feeling so many emotions just from one story:  you laugh, you cry, you are happy and sad.

Overall I would definitely recommend reading the book first and then seeing the film. But, I would also recommend doing both.

I am now going to leave you with the trailer to the Fault in Our Stars.

I hope you enjoyed my Book Vs. Film review.
